Our health facility, the Orange Blossom Family Health Center, is the delivery site for our many programs and is located just a few blocks west of downtown Orlando. Our programs include primary and preventive medical care, oral health services, behavioral health and substance abuse counseling, an on-site pharmacy, vision services, a residential TB shelter, mobile health services and street outreach - the HOPE Team.
Our HOPE (Homeless Outreach Partnership Effort) Team works where their clients live…on the streets and in the woods. Through their outreach, they are connecting people who live in the woods of Central Florida with the many health services we can provide at the Orange Blossom Family Health Center. The team includes two outreach specialists, a veterans outreach specialist and a Registered Nurse.
Primary and Preventive Medical Care
Primary medical care is provided by a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, medical assistants, and student interns. Our goal is to create a "medical home" for our patients in an effort to prevent the inappropriate use of hospital emergency rooms.
Oral Health Services
Dental services at HCCH are provided by
a team of dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and students. Our
services include emergency dental care, oral screenings, cleanings,
restoration work, and referrals for surgery.
Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Counseling
Our behavioral health team consists of two licensed mental health counselors and a psychiatric nurse practitioner who provide mental health and substance abuse counseling, individual therapy, and referrals to detoxification and crisis centers. Through individualized treatment plans, our behavioral health team is helping their patients make better life choices.
Health Care Center for the Homeless ®“One Community, One Health Center”
Our Mission"to provide quality health care services that improve the lives of the homeless and medically indigent people of our community."
Welcome to Health Care Center for the Homeless The Health Care Center for the Homeless (HCCH) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to providing the health care needs of the homeless and uninsured residents of our community in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Founded in 1993 by Dr. Rick Baxley, we began as an evening medical clinic at a local homeless shelter in Orlando, Florida. Over the years, we have grown to address multiple areas in health care, centralized within our own clinic building, the Orange Blossom Family Health Center. Our Health Center is located just a few blocks west of downtown Orlando and we currently serve the homeless population of Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties with the goal of returning our patients to lives of self-sufficiency. We also serve the housed but uninsured or underinsured residents of Orange County in an effort to prevent the financial devastation that can result from catastrophic health care costs. Our programs include primary medical care, oral health services, behavioral health and substance abuse counseling, an on-site pharmacy, vision services, a residential TB shelter, mobile health services, and an aggressive street outreach program - the HOPE Team.
Our Mission "to provide quality health care services that improve the lives of the homeless and medically indigent people of our community."Our Values: We are committed and obligated to provide the highest quality of care to all community residents in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. We treat all patients with a truly caring attitude and are aware of the changing needs of the community and strive to be responsive to those needs. We embrace human differences as bonds, not barriers, and believe that quality health care should be universally accessible
